FITNUT Program Director Coordinator | Human Biology and Society (B.S.) 2020
WHY DID YOU BECOME A PART OF SCOPE?
FitNut caught my eye because I wanted to work with kids and I am passionate about health education. Learning how to take care of yourself and maintain good health is essential for people of every age, but teaching children is so important because the habits they develop last throughout adult life. Now, I am a part of STAND and PHA as well, and I couldn’t be more happy about dedicating more time to SCOPE.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO LEAD YOUR SPECIFIC PROGRAM?
FitNut is the best! Who wouldn’t want to?! FitNut is an amazing program, and it is my favorite organization at UCLA. I had the most incredible experience last year teaching elementary school students (who are the cutest ever), and I was able to see firsthand how FitNut makes a lasting impact on the kids we teach. After that year, I wanted to be more involved in helping FitNut strengthen and expand its influence on the LA community.
I run an Instagram account (@anemone_or_anenome) with my friend Jaspreet (a YEP coord!) where we ask people “What does Nemo live in?” and tally their answers because we realized that people say it differently.
FUTURE GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS
To travel a LOT, to learn how to cook in order to survive in an apartment, to adopt more dogs. This year, I really want to learn ASL and get better at photography. More professionally, I’m pre-med and interested in genetics, public health, and health education.
